'When We Used To Gather" is a collaborative pantoum written by Anika Pyle and Grant Souders. This poem is a back and forth rumination about gathering, written during a time when we could not gather. May it serve as a document to one of the strangest times in our lives.

When we used to gather
The wine was our birthright
Your laugh, a rightful inheritance
Our waltz: ebullient and immutable

We went back to dancing and eating

To consume impenetrable woods, skies, etc.

Brimful of spirit
Consuming impenetrable woods and skies
Like no one could ever disappear;
